WHY IMPROVISATION ⛌ CROSS TEAM COMMUNICATION IS KEY

Poor cross-team communication impact overall performance, culture, and effectiveness. An organisation may find their efficiency is reduced, as teams struggle to coordinate efforts well, do not shares ideas so much, and this leads to delays and errors. This slows down projects and overall productivity. The quality of work can suffer, and this can affect moral and employee engagement (along with frustration) and silos pop up.

Ths affects the organisation in a number of ways, and one not mentioned much is the restriction in ideas or solutions when communication is poor and what the organisation misses out on that is theirs for the taking if they just had better communication. This effects strategy, new technology and growth. If this spills over to the buyers, their experience is compromised and that means the reputation of the org is lower.

With applied improvisation (AIM), you now have the skills to grow strong communication channels and practices across all levels of an organization, and reverse the above effects.

However, similar improv interventions with students in both medical schools and MBA programs have also resulted in self-reports and outcomes that imply that engagement with improv strengthens communication skills (Hoffman et al., 2008; Huffaker & West, 2005).
